Saturday. 9am - 10am - Pump Class. 10:30am - 12:30pm - Solid gardening (more squatting that I usually notice). Rest of the day... sitting? I hope you're all having a great Saturday, be it super productive or more relaxing :)

Fifty Two - Wild flowers and lots of birds
I'm almost done with bushwalking photos for a little while - I promise! I am pretty darn happy to have a couple of photos in stock today though, the combination of a yucky head cold and starting to get back into a proper fitness training routine (combat class with an overly enthusiastic instructor when unwell is haaaard guys) has left me kinda in a melted puddle on the couch tonight. This wild geranium was hiding off in all the kinda scrubby plants on the edge of the water - I almost missed it, you can thank Pappa's good eye for that one!

Fifty One - Golden Silk Orb Weaver
The things I do for my art!!! I fall pretty solidly into the camp of 'spiders freak me right the hell out', but on our stroll through the bush on the weekend Dad pointed out the many Golden Silk Orb Weaver Spiders hanging out just off the path and my desire for a good photo outweighed my fear. I wasn't QUITE brave enough to get up close enough to get a true super duper close macro - every time the wind blew the web closer to me there was a bunch of jumping around and ew, ew ,ews!, but I'm pretty happy with how this one came out!
The webs are quite big and complex - I suspect that walking through one would be akin to walking into a big, horrifying net... Tuesday, February 24, 2015
Fifty - Who knew they were so fluffy?
I've posted a photo of a Banksia flower here before, but I don't think I've ever looked at one at this stage of its life up close before... So much more like a cool fluffy checkerboard than I expected!

Forty Nine - Sunrise and Spiderwebs
Yesterday I went for a beautiful early morning walk through Neil Hawkins Park with my Dad. As I had done my first pump class (weights training) in over a year on Saturday, pulling my aching body out of bed was a definite challenge, but it was so worth it! I always enjoy a hike/bushwalk with my Dad and yesterday there were so many things to see and such pretty light. I'm afraid you'll be getting nature shots all week! I hope Monday treated you all well!

Forty Eight - Urban Orchard Fun
Before our show last night we went and had a drink in the Urban Orchard (had to go to all of the cute Fringey spots before they were gone!). It's a pretty cool spot year round, outside of the Fringe festival its a community garden where you can find fruit, vegetables, herbs and companion
plants. The planter boxes are made from recycled waste from other parts
of the building works, the plants are managed organically and are
harvested and planted seasonally. Its cool to have something like this right in the middle of the city. During Fringe it gets made up with bars, food and a silent disco and is a great place to hang out.

Forty Seven - Read A Book
Well the Fringe World Festival is almost at its end for another year (although you may be seeing photos from tonight for a couple of days...). To see out the season tonight I went with a good friend to see the Festival Spectacular by the Twisted Vaudeville Circus and had a wander around both the Pleasure Garden and the Urban Orchard. A good time was definitely had! I love the Curtin Garden Library, a nice relaxing place to sit and read a good book! If you'd like to check it out in the daytime have a look at my Mum's post here.

Forty Six - Happy Chinese New Year!
As I was walking through the city today on my lunch break I was lucky enough to stumble across a Chinese Lion Dance in full swing. I do love watching these - they remind me of playful puppies and the dancers are very talented, these guys were leaping up to full height (so one guy on top of the other under there!) all over the place. Perth's full on Chinese New Year celebrations will take place in Northbridge this Sunday, but as I'm not 100% sure I'll make it there this year I was pretty pleased to catch this dance!

Forty Five - Happy Places
I'm sorry I've been a bit absent the last couple of days - ever get times when you get home from work and can't bring yourself to even think about turning on another computer? These are scenes from a walk by the beach a couple of weeks ago - hopefully I'll get a chance to spend some time there over the weekend!

Forty Four - Now THAT'S a disco ball
Ah Fringe World at night, its a magical place. Or at least its a really pretty one! These were taken on Friday night on the way to see La Soiree. I love the vibe in the pleasure garden, its super relaxed but there's all sorts of things too see... out door libraries, mermaids in their tank... and a giant disco ball. Which is of course what grabs my attention straight away because I am basically like a magpie around shiny things...

Forty Three - The Little Girl Sets Sail
I would wear these shoes... of course, I would probably be able to stand quite comfortably inside this actual pair of shoes, but the style with some cute socks... I could get on board. The little girl set sail on Friday morning and I played just a wee bit of hooky from work for a couple of hours to check it out. I was lucky enough to find a spot close enough to get soaked by her boat as she went by (which is MUCH better than I managed today..). I hope you've all had a fab weekend!

Forty Two - They've Landed!
So my next couple of posts may be a little different to usual due to the incredible spectacle that is The Giants having landed in Perth. Dealing with such a huge dude I haven't really ended up with any macro's per se (those feet are way taller than I am!!)... but still... details. And more picture heavy because... Wow. I was lucky enough to walk into the office yesterday and find that the view out of the window was somewhat different to usual! (I have no idea what the slime on the bridge is by the way - this shot from the window has been compared to something out of the game Bioshock). Obviously after taking some photos from the office I rushed downstairs to get up close and personal before the whole of Perth discovered him!
I headed down to watch the Little Girl take her first steps as well (I may have had a slightly slack work day...) but I'll get to her tomorrow! Hopefully going with Mum to catch them meeting up tomorrow - Can't wait! Wish us luck with the crazy crowds...

Forty One - A Most Pleasurable Day Indeed
Well! Today has been a good day indeed! It started off with The Giants landing in the city (oh so much more on this once I've had a chance to go through my photos - they are incredibly exciting!) and ended with going to see the fabulous La Soiree (also more on this later - although we weren't allowed to take photos of the actual show...) in the Pleasure Garden as part of the Fringe Festival. So much going on, so much culture. And attractive half naked men! But for now here's there entrance to the Pleasure Garden, one of my favourite Fringe World venues. Its all big tops and spiegeltents and Chinese lanterns. Whats not to love?!

Forty - I Love My City
What can I say... Perth is just pretty. I love it. But a note to self for the future, if I'm going to take really close up photos of flowers in planters edging a cafe, I might get fewer funny looks if I sit and get a drink there or something...

Thirty Nine -
I don't know about you guys, but I find my mood is so very influenced by colour. That's why if I'm feeling a bit blah you'll probably find me wearing a particularly 'every colour of the rainbow' outfit... This morning found me working on a project that is highly necessary but horrifically boring, so on my lunch break I decided to go for a wander in the sunshine and find something uplifting. This tree was like a massive explosion of yellow, so pretty! Definitely did the job :)

Thirty Eight - Knock Knock
This cool door knocker caught my eye on my walk through Northbridge to work this morning and I thought it was a nifty detail considering its on the door of a Mexican Food chain restaurant... I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday, I've been having some technical issues lately and everything was just fighting me last night! Looks like I have at least gotten my internet issues sorted now though so - Yay!

Thirty Seven - She Sells Seashells by the Seashore
I don't have all that many words today... so instead here are some pretty pictures from a wander through the sand and rocks, looking towards Burns Beach. I hope you've all had a fantastic weekend!

Thirty Five - Pink Fluffy Balls
Its amazing what you can find in some scrub in the middle of a roundabout... This beautiful flower caught my eye on the way out of Kings Park on Wednesday and with that colour and that texture, I couldn't help but crouch on the road to take a photo. Not something I'd recommend on a busy road but I figure in this spot cars go slow and its not like they would be able to say they didn't see me if they hit me, my hair kind of makes me like a human red light... If you'd like a different view of the beautiful Boab tree in the background of my wide shot, check out my Mum's post here.

Thirty Four - Parasols in the Park
I have a very good friend who refuses to walk anywhere in the hot summer sun without her parasol. It might seem a bit much but her skin is incredibly soft so apparently its worth it. The lady in the photo below going for a stroll in Kings Park seems to have the same idea. And considering how hot it was, it certainly seems smart!
